Washington, D.C. hosts Labor Day cultural events

Washington, D.C. will host several major cultural events during the Labor Day weekend of 2026, including a free concert by the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) and the 22nd annual DC JazzFest.

The NSO will perform an indoor patriotic program at DAR Constitution Hall on Sunday, September 6. Conducted by Enrico Lopez-Yañez and featuring vocalist Ender Thomas, the concert will include works by composer Karen LeFrak and narration by Dr. Alveda King. While admission is free, attendees are encouraged to make reservations through the Kennedy Center, though seating remains on a first-come, first-served basis.

Simultaneously, the DC JazzFest will run from September 2 to September 6, featuring performances across various locations in the District, such as The Wharf and Anthem Row. The festival aims to highlight the evolution of jazz through a lineup of NEA Jazz Masters, Grammy winners, and international talent. The event serves as a celebration of the genre's history and its role in the American cultural landscape.
