Washington, D.C. hosts various free cultural events in September

The Washington, D.C., metropolitan area features a variety of free cultural and community events throughout mid-September. A major highlight is the Art All Night celebration, occurring September 11–12, which offers free arts programming, live music, and performances across all eight D.C. wards.

Other notable free activities include:

• The National Zoo will host a free admission day on September 12 to celebrate the fifth birthday of giant panda Qing Bao with a special fruit-based ice cake.

• The National Gallery of Art will host “American Icons,” a night of music and artmaking on September 10.

• The Kronos Quartet is scheduled to perform a free concert at the National Museum of American History on September 12 as part of the Smithsonian’s 25th anniversary commemoration of 9/11.

• Additional regional events include the NoMa in Color Festival, a Taiwanese Comics Showcase at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library, and the St. Mark Egyptian Festival in Fairfax.
