Washington, D.C. leads U.S. cities in fall home maintenance readiness

New data from home services company Angi reveals that metropolitan areas in colder climates are the most proactive regarding fall home maintenance. Washington, D.C. ranks first in the country for demand for fall maintenance, followed by Columbus, Ohio, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Other top-ranking cities include Cleveland, Ohio, and the Albany-Schenectady-Troy, New York, metro area.

Cold-weather markets account for eight of the ten most-prepared metropolitan areas. The top ten list is completed by Rochester, New York; Charlotte, North Carolina; Chicago; Indianapolis; and Pittsburgh.

Conversely, fewer than one in five American cities is preparing for fall at an above-average rate. Los Angeles recorded the lowest level of per-capita activity, followed by Oklahoma City and Riverside, California. California cities, including San Diego and San Francisco, appear frequently in the bottom ten rankings, likely due to historically milder winter climates that make seasonal maintenance less urgent.
