Washington, DC reports record tourism and economic growth in 2025

Washington, DC recorded historic tourism figures in 2025, welcoming 27.2 million visitors. The sector generated $11.9 billion in spending and $2.4 billion in tax revenue, supporting 114,000 jobs.

Despite these records, the pace of growth has slowed, and international tourism saw a 4% decline. In response, Destination DC is implementing new strategies to boost demand, including leveraging major sporting events such as the NWSL final.

The city's appeal is increasingly tied to its diverse culinary landscape and cultural identity. Neighborhoods like Adams Morgan, U Street, and The Wharf offer a wide range of international cuisines, including Ethiopian, Mexican, and Brazilian, alongside historic landmarks like the Old Ebbitt Grill and Ben’s Chili Bowl.
