Washington D.C. Summer Family Guide Highlights New Restaurants, Concerts and Drive‑In Movies
The Washington D.C. area offers a range of family‑friendly activities this August. Carmen’s Italian Ice opened a fourth location in Cabin John Village, earning national recognition from Bon Appétit. Downtown D.C. now hosts Rosa’s Diner, a Latin‑American twist on the classic American diner. The Prince George’s County Memorial Library System runs a book crawl for adults that ends on Aug. 11 with an after‑hours book fair at miXt Food Hall in Brentwood. Music fans can attend a Taylor Swift tribute concert on Aug. 21 at Art Place in Fort Totten, part of the summer concert series. The final free drive‑in movie of the season, "Respect," will be shown at Prince George’s Stadium on Aug. 28. Ice‑cream lovers can visit Van Leeuwen Ice Cream’s first DMV shop in Old Town Alexandria and look forward to an Always Ice Cream opening at Pike & Rose in North Bethesda later this fall.
