Washington, D.C. to host Freedom 250 Grand Prix IndyCar race

Washington, D.C. will host the first-ever NTT IndyCar Series race on the National Mall as part of the Freedom 250 Grand Prix. Scheduled for August 22–23, the event commemorates the 250th anniversary of the United States.

The race weekend includes practice sessions, qualifying, and the main event on Sunday, August 23. The event is being coordinated by IndyCar alongside the America 250 Task Force, the U.S. Department of Transportation, the U.S. Department of the Interior, and the Office of the Mayor of the District of Columbia.

To accommodate the race, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) plans to temporarily suspend flight operations at Reagan National Airport on August 23 from 10:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. local time. Travelers are advised to expect potential delays, schedule changes, or cancellations during this three-hour window.
