Washington Fish & Wildlife Announces August Budget and Hunting Rule Meetings
The Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission will convene a hybrid meeting from Aug. 13‑15 in Long Beach, Pacific County. Commissioners will hear the department director’s report, consider portions of the 2027‑2029 budget for the upcoming legislative session, decide on two land‑transaction proposals, and review the periodic status of the streaked horned lark. A briefing on hiring a public‑workshops facilitator will also be presented. Director Kelly Susewind will lead the session and public input will be accepted.
Separately, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is holding three virtual public meetings on Aug. 11, 12 and 17 to discuss potential hunting‑rule proposals for ungulates, waterfowl and other game species as part of its 2027‑2029 season‑setting process. Game division manager Anis Aoude said the meetings are an early‑stage opportunity for hunters and other stakeholders to learn about the roughly 60 proposals under consideration. Online surveys for comments will remain open through Aug. 30.
