Washington Huskies coach Jedd Fisch delays starting quarterback decision
University of Washington head football coach Jedd Fisch has announced that the decision regarding the starting quarterback for the upcoming game against Nebraska will remain unsettled until game time. The competition involves Elijah Brown and Demond Williams Jr.
Brown recently led the Huskies to a 38-26 victory over Purdue, completing 21 of 27 passes for 302 yards and three touchdowns. Williams, who had started 21 consecutive games, is currently recovering from a fractured rib sustained in a previous matchup against Iowa. Fisch noted that while Williams is showing physical improvement, he must still ensure he can maintain proper ball velocity and trajectory while protecting himself.
Fisch stated that keeping the decision uncertain provides a competitive advantage and that both players will continue to compete in practice. The outcome of this selection is viewed as a significant factor for the program's momentum and coach Fisch's leadership regarding player loyalty and donor relations.
