Washington Mystics and Atlanta Dream begin WNBA playoff series

WNBA Playoffs Washington Mystics Atlanta Dream quarterfinal series basketball

The Washington Mystics and Atlanta Dream begin their best-of-three WNBA playoff quarterfinal series on Sunday, September 27, at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. While the Dream secured the No. 4 seed and homecourt advantage, the Mystics won two of the three regular-season matchups between the teams.

The series is expected to be a battle in the paint, as both teams ranked first and second in the league in paint points per game and were the top rebounding squads. For Atlanta, Angel Reese will be a focal point; despite her rebounding strength, she faced challenges with efficiency against Washington’s frontline during the regular season.

Injuries impact the Dream, with Matilde Villa and Brionna Jones listed as out. Success for both teams will likely depend on perimeter shooting to create space for their interior players.
