Washington Nationals defeat Astros 8-2 as Abrams and García each notch 20th homer
CJ Abrams and Luis García Jr. each hit their 20th home run of the season as the Washington Nationals routed the Houston Astros 8-2 on Wednesday night. Foster Griffin earned his 10th win, allowing just one run over seven innings and matching the franchise rookie record for victories since the club relocated from Montreal in 2005.
The victory gave Washington a two‑game cushion above .500. The Nationals loaded the bases in the fifth before adding a sacrifice fly, while Houston’s lone run came on a single by Brice Matthews. Griffin struck out nine batters, allowed five hits and issued no walks, continuing a stretch of seven consecutive starts with only one run allowed.
