Bryce Eldridge's walk‑off grand slam lifts Giants over Nationals

Bryce Eldridge hit a walk‑off grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the San Francisco Giants an 11‑10 win over the Washington Nationals. The Giants rallied from a 9‑1 deficit, scoring ten runs in the final two innings. Eldridge’s home run, his fourth of the season, made him the youngest player in MLB history to hit a walk‑off grand slam, surpassing Roberto Clemente’s 70‑year‑old record.

After Matt Chapman and Rafael Devers homered in the eighth to start the comeback, the Giants added back‑to‑back doubles by Luis Arraez and Chapman in the ninth, loading the bases before Eldridge delivered a 326‑foot slam on a 2‑0 slider from Nationals reliever Mitchell Parker. Eldridge reacted emotionally, saying, “That’s the first I’ve heard about that, obviously, but I’m trying to wipe my smile off my face and stay professional,” and adding, “Man, that’s cool… I’ve dreamed and prayed about that my whole life.”
