Miami Marlins defeat Washington Nationals in series wins
The Miami Marlins secured a series victory over the Washington Nationals through two distinct competitive performances at loanDepot Park.
In a dramatic Friday night matchup, Javier Sanoja delivered a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning to lead the Marlins to a 3-2 victory. The game saw Washington tie the score in the top of the ninth via a Daylen Lile single, but Sanoja’s hit with the bases loaded ended the contest. The win moved Miami to a 65-64 record.
In a separate Saturday game, the Marlins defeated the Nationals 4-2. Heriberto Hernández and Jakob Marsee both hit solo home runs to power the Miami offense. Eury Pérez earned the win, pitching five innings and allowing only one earned run, while Calvin Faucher secured the save. Washington’s Jake Irvin took the loss despite pitching six innings.
The Marlins' recent success against the Nationals includes winning six consecutive matchups against the team.
