Washington Nationals focus on prospect development

The Washington Nationals are seeing significant progress from key prospects within their farm system. Pitcher Miguel Sime Jr. has demonstrated substantial growth during his first season, specifically through the development of a new slider. After refining his grip during the offseason, the slider has become a primary weapon, contributing to a high strikeout rate. Despite maintaining a high walk rate, Sime earned a mid-season promotion to High-A Wilmington, where he posted a 2.15 ERA.

Infielder Yohandy Morales is also positioned for a major role following his major league debut in September 2026. After a productive season with Triple-A Rochester, where he recorded 25 home runs and 76 RBIs, manager Blake Butera indicated that the organization intends to increase Morales's playing time by transitioning him back to third base. This move is designed to provide more lineup flexibility, as the team currently has multiple options at first base.
