Washington Quaquá criticizes Lula campaign strategy

Washington Quaquá, the national vice-president of the Workers' Party (PT) and mayor of Maricá, has criticized the current campaign strategy of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Quaquá, who coordinates the campaign in Rio de Janeiro, argued that recent events featuring prominent artists like Caetano Veloso, Chico Buarque, and Maria Bethânia are ineffective for gaining new voters, describing the approach as “preaching to the converted.”

He suggested that the campaign should instead focus on reaching different demographics, such as gospel and sertanejo music listeners. Quaquá also expressed frustration regarding a lack of communication between the state and national campaign leadership, led by PT President Edinho Silva. He claimed that local demands are not being heard and that the party's communication sector is operating in an “analog” and outdated manner.

Internal dissatisfaction within the party is reportedly growing, with some members citing a lack of strategic direction and difficulty accessing polling data.
