Washington State replaces starting quarterback Caden Pinnick

Washington State head coach Kirby Moore has announced that redshirt freshman Owen Eshelman will take over as the starting quarterback, replacing Caden Pinnick. The decision follows a 1-5 start to the season and recent conference losses to Utah State and Fresno State.

Pinnick, a UC Davis transfer, struggled with efficiency and turnovers, recording 952 passing yards, three touchdowns, and five interceptions over six games. Moore cited missed opportunities in the red zone and a need for improved accuracy as primary reasons for the change.

Eshelman, who transferred to WSU after initially committing to South Dakota State, has been pushing for the starting role for the past 10 months. He is expected to lead the offense starting with the upcoming game against Oregon State.
