Washington Trails Association announces Hike-A-Thon and San Francisco hosts historical walking tour

The Washington Trails Association (WTA) has announced its annual Hike-A-Thon fundraiser for August 2026. Registration for the event opens in mid-June, allowing participants to personalize fundraising pages to support trail development.

Since 2022, WTA staff and volunteers have contributed over 4,400 hours of work at Olsen Creek State Forest in Bellingham and nearly 15,000 hours of maintenance in the DNR’s Baker District. Upcoming summer projects include work at Monte Cristo, Necklace Valley, and Baker Lake.

In San Francisco, a Juneteenth-inspired walking tour titled ‘The Logic of Freedom’ is scheduled for August 21, 2026. The free event explores the city's history of social integrity and individual liberty through the stories of six activists and thinkers, including Henry George, Jose Rizal, and Sun Yat-sen.
