Washington Wizards refuse to trade Anthony Davis

The Washington Wizards have announced that they will not entertain any trade offers for veteran forward Anthony Davis, who was acquired at last season’s trade deadline from the Dallas Mavericks. Despite speculation that the Golden State Warriors might pursue a deal to reunite Davis with former teammate LeBron James, Wizards management says the player is "intransférable" and no offers are being considered.

Davis, 33, is eligible for a four‑year, $275 million contract extension on Aug. 6, which would replace his current player option for 2027‑28. He has yet to make his Washington debut after missing time with a left‑hand ligament injury. The Wizards have also locked in point guard Trae Young to a four‑year, $212 million deal and added No. 1 overall draft pick AJ Dybantsa, building a core aimed at ending a five‑year playoff drought.

The team’s stance comes amid broader NBA free‑agency chatter, including reports that the Warriors are targeting LeBron James and have considered a Davis trade to bolster their roster. Washington’s refusal signals that Davis is viewed as a cornerstone of its rebuilding plan alongside Young and the new draftee.
