Washington Wizards rebuild focuses on AJ Dybantsa, Trae Young, and Anthony Davis
The Washington Wizards enter the 2026-27 NBA season with a revamped roster following a league-worst 17-65 campaign. The team secured the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, selecting BYU wing AJ Dybantsa, who is expected to serve as a cornerstone player.
In addition to Dybantsa, the Wizards' core features veteran All-Stars Trae Young and Anthony Davis. While Young played limited minutes for the team last season, he is now under a four-year, $212 million extension. Davis, who did not play for the team last year, provides significant defensive potential, though his future with the franchise remains uncertain as he approaches free agency.
The roster also includes players such as Alex Sarr, Bilal Coulibaly, and Bub Carrington. Head coach Brian Keefe, entering his fourth season, faces the challenge of integrating these new acquisitions and transitioning the team from a rebuilding phase toward playoff contention.
