Wasim Akram criticizes PSL for lack of batting talent

Former Pakistan cricket captain Wasim Akram has criticized the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for failing to develop high-quality batting talent over its ten-year history. Akram noted that while the league has produced several bowlers, it has not yielded noteworthy batters to support the national team, particularly in Test cricket.

To illustrate the gap in talent, Akram cited India’s 14-year-old batting prospect, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, as an example of the potential Pakistan needs to cultivate. He suggested that the country's struggles in Test cricket, including recent defeats against Bangladesh, are a direct result of this lack of batting depth.

Akram argued that changing coaches is not a primary solution, as the issue lies in the underlying talent pool. He urged the Pakistan Cricket Board to focus on reviving club cricket and to allow the current domestic structure enough time—ideally three to four years—to produce results rather than implementing frequent changes.
