Wasim Jaffer questions player selections ahead of India-Afghanistan T20I series

Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer has raised concerns regarding player selections and form ahead of India’s upcoming three-match T20I series against Afghanistan, scheduled to begin September 13 in Delhi.

Jaffer expressed apprehension over the recent form of spinner Varun Chakaravarthy, suggesting that opposing batsmen may have figured out his bowling patterns. He noted that Chakaravarthy’s deliveries often lack variation in direction, making it easier for batters to attack him when the ball lands in their hitting zone.

Additionally, Jaffer questioned the exclusion of Rinku Singh from the squad. Highlighting Singh’s strong performances in the IPL and the UP T20 League, Jaffer stated that the left-handed batter appears to have been left out “for no real reason,” noting that Singh has consistently performed well whenever given opportunities in critical positions.
