Wassenaar explores museum function for De Warenar cultural center

The municipality of Wassenaar is conducting an interest survey to determine the feasibility of adding a museum function to the De Warenar cultural center. As part of upcoming renovation and sustainability efforts, approximately 230 square meters of space on the attic floor could be made available for flexible exhibition use.

Interested parties, including social organizations, cultural institutions, and foundations, have until October 21 to submit plans or express interest. The municipality specifies that any museum function must have a clear connection to Wassenaar, such as local history, heritage, art, nature, or culture.

The municipality will not provide a structural budget for the setup or operation of a museum. Interested initiators must be able to independently finance and manage the museum, including rent and operating costs. However, pieces from the municipal art collection may be made available for loan and exhibition.
