Sicily: Regional elections set for November 2027

Sicilian President Renato Schifani has announced that the next regional elections will take place in November 2027. Speaking at the Confindustria forum in Taormina, Schifani emphasized that the current administration has one year of legislative work remaining to focus on economic development.

To support regional growth, Schifani outlined a significant financial plan, including a stability law that will mobilize 1 billion euros in resources. He also plans to introduce an additional substantial financial maneuver between April and May of next year.

Economic indicators for the region show positive trends, including a net increase of 1,700 new businesses in the second half of the year. The tourism sector has also seen growth, with 17.5 million overnight stays reported, a 5.8% increase. Additionally, airport traffic has risen, with specific hubs in Palermo and Trapani seeing a 32.9% increase in traffic.
