Waste management initiatives launched in Brwinów and Jarocin

The Brwinów municipality is beginning a comprehensive replacement of black mixed-waste containers for single-family housing starting November 2, 2026. The new containers will feature the Brwinów coat of arms and be equipped with RFID electronic chips. The municipality purchased 10,000 new units, including 7,500 120-liter and 2,500 240-liter containers, for a total of 982,175 PLN. This investment is expected to pay for itself within 4.5 years by eliminating the costs associated with leasing containers from external companies.

In Jarocin, a pilot program titled “Zapal znicz, nie śmieciarkę” (Light a candle, not a garbage truck) has been announced to address fire risks at waste processing plants. Special blue containers will be placed in cemeteries to collect small electronic waste, such as batteries, battery inserts, and electric candles. This initiative follows reports from the Regional Municipal Waste Processing Facilities Council (RIPOK) indicating that batteries and accumulators have become a major fire hazard, with 78% of facilities experiencing fire incidents or minor accidents caused by batteries in the last 12 to 24 months.
