Waste management updates implemented in Polish municipalities

Municipalities in Poland are implementing various initiatives and changes regarding Selective Municipal Waste Collection Points (PSZOK). In Hrubieszów, a new system will take effect on October 1, requiring residents to present a specific plastic card to dispose of waste. This electronic identification system is designed to replace paper forms, improve waste tracking, and prevent misuse. Each single-family home or apartment unit will receive one free card, with additional cards costing 10 PLN.

In the Masłów and Wola Kopcowa regions, educational efforts are being conducted at a modernized PSZOK in Dąbrowa. Local students participated in practical workshops focused on waste segregation, the circular economy, and the use of modern equipment like vehicle scales. The program included visits to a repair and reuse center, referred to as a ‘hospital for things,’ to demonstrate how broken items can be repaired rather than discarded.
