Wat Phra Yai temple features golden Buddha on Koh Fan

Wat Phra Yai is a modern Buddhist temple located on Koh Fan, a small island off the northeast coast of Ko Samui in Thailand. Connected to the main island by a short causeway, the temple complex serves as a prominent landmark in the area near Bang Rak and Bophut.

Established in 1972, the temple follows the Theravada tradition. Its most striking feature is a 12-meter-tall golden Buddha statue depicted in the Mara posture. The statue sits on an elevated platform accessible via a wide staircase, rising above the surrounding trees and buildings to overlook the coastline and the Gulf of Thailand.
