Liverpool excludes Chiesa and Endo from Champions League squad

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has omitted senior players Federico Chiesa and Wataru Endo from the club’s 25-man squad for the 2026-27 UEFA Champions League league phase.

The decision reflects the current hierarchy under Iraola. Chiesa, an Italian winger, has struggled to secure consistent playing time and is currently recovering from a muscle injury. Endo, a Japanese defensive midfielder, has not yet featured in any Premier League minutes this season despite being on the bench for the opening matches.

To comply with UEFA’s homegrown player regulations, Iraola has prioritized academy talents and other squad members. While Chiesa and Endo were excluded, the squad includes players currently managing injuries, such as Giovanni Leoni, Conor Bradley, and Hugo Ekitike. The roster also features high-profile additions like Bradley Barcola and Victor Muñoz.
