Wataya Besso Flag Youth Baseball Tournament held in Ureshino

The 65th Wataya Besso Flag Youth Baseball Tournament was held on August 15 and 16, 2026, in Ureshino, Saga Prefecture. The long-standing regional event featured 16 teams of elementary school players from Saga Prefecture and Nagasaki Prefecture.

In a high-scoring final match, Shiraishi JBC defeated Morofutokita Elementary School Club to take the championship. The game was characterized by a back-and-forth scoring pattern, including a home run in the opening inning.

To address extreme heat, the tournament organizers implemented new safety measures. In collaboration with UPDATER, an occupant of the Onsen Incubation Center (OIC) at Wataya Besso, umpires wore ‘hamon band N’ wearable devices. These devices monitor changes in core body temperature to provide alerts regarding heatstroke risks.
