Water ambulances conclude seasonal service in Masurian Lake District

Water ambulance services on the Great Masurian Lakes trail and Jeziorak are concluding their seasonal operations. Throughout the season, which runs from June to the end of September, these medical teams were stationed in Giżycko, Kamień, Sztynort, Ryn, and Iława.

According to the Warmian-Masurian branch of the National Health Fund (NFZ), the water ambulances responded to 376 calls this season, providing medical assistance to 353 individuals. The most frequent reasons for emergency calls included insect bites or stings, abdominal pain, allergies, fainting, and hypertension. The NFZ allocated over 5 million PLN to support these services.

Starting October 1, emergency assistance on the lakes will be provided by rescuers from the Mazurian Volunteer Rescue Service (MOPR).
