Water authorities warn of dangerous behavior at reservoir sites

Water authorities in the United Kingdom are issuing warnings regarding dangerous and anti-social behavior at reservoir sites.

NI Water has reported a worrying trend of individuals trespassing into prohibited infrastructure areas and standing near sheer drops to capture content for social media. The organization warned that such actions endanger visitors and place emergency services at risk. NI Water noted that CCTV is used to monitor restricted areas, and footage of trespassing will be shared with the PSNI.

In Scotland, Scottish Water has issued a plea to reduce anti-social behavior at several locations, including Megget Reservoir near Selkirk. Reported issues include littering, leaving unattended campfires near woodlands, cutting down trees, and discarding human waste. Officials are urging visitors to respect the environment and leave no trace of their visits to protect local habitats and amenities.
