Water infrastructure projects announced in Apucarana and Águas Lindas de Goiás
Major water supply infrastructure projects have been announced in Apucarana, Brazil, and Águas Lindas de Goiás, Brazil, to address regional water security and population growth.
In Apucarana, a R$ 2 billion project aims to capture water from the Tibagi River, located approximately 60 kilometers from the city. The project, which was awarded to a consortium via auction, is intended to replace the current system that relies on the Caviúna stream and artesian wells. Mayor Rodolfo Mota stated the initiative is essential to prevent water shortages during periods of intense heat and drought.
In Águas Lindas de Goiás, a proposed R$ 130 million project involves the construction of six water reservoirs and a new capture system using a barge. State Deputy Anderson Teodoro met with Saneago officials to discuss these improvements, which are designed to expand storage and distribution capacity to match the municipality's growing population.
