Water management and illegal sales reported in Peru and Bolivia

In Peru, the Technical Organization for the Administration of Sanitation Services (OTASS) has transferred over S/ 9 million to the water utility Seda Huánuco over the last six years. This funding, provided under the Transitional Support Regime, has been used to strengthen management, renew equipment, and optimize potable water and sanitation services. The investment has helped the company reverse its previous economic and financial insolvency.

In Bolivia, the Autonomous Administrator for Sanitary Works (AAPOS) has reported the illegal sale of water from the Kari Kari basin in Potosí. Authorities identified two mining plants as recipients of the water, which is being transported via unauthorized tanker trucks. This illegal activity is estimated to cause economic losses between 26 million and 30 million bolivianos and poses a significant threat to the region's potable water supply, as current reservoir capacity stands at 29%. AAPOS has referred the matter to water oversight authorities and may initiate criminal proceedings.
