Water management initiatives launched in Chile and Mexico

In Chile, the Ministry of Public Works, through the General Directorate of Water (DGA), has installed new radar sensors to monitor water levels in the Paipote ravine and the Copiapó River. These remote control points, located in the Copiapó and Tierra Amarilla communes, allow for real-time tracking of water flow height during potential floods without requiring permanent on-site personnel. This initiative aims to strengthen hydrometeorological prevention and decision-making capabilities in the Atacama region.

In Mexico, the State Commission of Public Services of Tijuana (CESPT) is conducting nighttime monitoring of water infrastructure to ensure stable distribution. Technical teams are inspecting storage tanks, such as Tanque Obrera III, to check water levels, line pressure, and equipment functionality. These continuous surveillance efforts are intended to manage increased consumption during hot seasons and identify operational changes in the hydraulic network promptly.
