Water management strategies evolve through industrial reuse and urban purification projects

Industrial and urban sectors are increasingly adopting advanced water management strategies to combat drought and resource scarcity. In the industrial sector, companies such as Mahou San Miguel, Unilever, and Repsol are investing in water efficiency, reuse, and regeneration to ensure operational continuity and meet ESG criteria. Technologies including membrane filtration, reverse osmosis, and artificial intelligence are being utilized to optimize consumption and monitor water stress in real time.

In Los Angeles, the city is implementing the Los Angeles Groundwater Replenishment Project to reduce dependence on imported water. A key component is the construction of the Advanced Water Purification Facility at the Donald C. Tillman Water Reclamation Plant. This project aims to treat wastewater through advanced purification processes to recharge the San Fernando Valley aquifer. The facility is expected to be fully operational by December 2027.
