Global water and utility services face disruptions and infrastructure works

Various regions are experiencing water supply issues and infrastructure developments. In Mozambique, the government is pushing to accelerate water expansion projects in Nampula, specifically the Namialo and Nametil systems, to benefit approximately 130,000 residents. Minister Fernando Rafael has called for faster execution after noting that progress is currently below targets.

In Brazil, emergency interventions by the mining company Vale in Itabira may cause temporary water service interruptions in 10 neighborhoods. Meanwhile, in Barão de Melgaço, a 90-day state of emergency has been declared due to severe disruptions and urban damage caused by water network replacement works. In São Gonçalo, Águas do Rio is conducting works in the Trindade neighborhood to regularize supply for 16,000 residents.

In Portugal, scheduled electricity maintenance is expected to cause power outages in Odivelas, Castro Verde, and Moura. Additionally, water pipe ruptures in Largo Luís de Camões are causing supply constraints in the lower areas of the city and the Bairro do Forno da Cal.
