Water Pipe Burst Halts International Terminal at Porto Alegre Airport

A water pipe burst in the international departure area of Salgado Filho Airport in Porto Alegre, Brazil, at about 7:45 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28. The rupture of a hydraulic connection caused water to spill onto the first floor of the terminal. Airport operator Fraport said the leak was fully contained by 8:15 a.m. and cleaning crews finished removing the water by 9:00 a.m. No flights, passengers or commercial operations were disrupted.

Fraport clarified that the incident was unrelated to the heavy rains affecting the region and noted it was the second pipe failure at the airport this month, following a July incident on the third floor that led to a partial ceiling collapse. No injuries were reported.
