Water quality concerns reported in Baiona and Magro River

Residents in various Spanish regions are facing water quality concerns due to environmental issues. In Baiona, Galicia, neighbors in Sabarís have reported highly turbid, brownish water coming from their taps. This follows a drought that has reduced the Baíña reservoir to 25% capacity, necessitating a connection to the Vigo supply network via Nigrán. Mayor Jesús Vázquez Almuiña has ordered inspections to check for potential infrastructure damage, though he maintains that the water quality remains guaranteed.

In the Valencia region, significant pollution has been reported in the Magro River near Llombai and Alfarp. Large accumulations of white foam have appeared in the river and irrigation channels, followed by reports of dead fish. Local farmers and residents suspect an upstream discharge or untreated waste. In response to the potential contamination, the president of the Alfarp irrigation community has suspended water use for crops until the source of the foam and the presence of contaminants can be determined.
