Water scarcity and diversion plans spark protests in Elazığ and Adıyaman

Agricultural and water resource management issues are causing tension in several Turkish regions. In Elazığ, DEVA Party Provincial Chairman Fetih Ahmet Biçer has called for immediate solutions to irrigation problems in Serince Village. Biçer emphasized that while an investigation report has been prepared, farmers require a concrete investment timeline to prevent production losses caused by high costs and lack of water access.

In Adıyaman's Sincik district, village heads from five communities have voiced opposition to plans to divert natural spring water from Teşikan Plateau to the Sincik center. Local leaders argue that the water is vital for regional livestock, beekeeping, and seasonal grazing. They contend that instead of tapping new sources, authorities should first repair existing pipelines where significant water loss is currently occurring.
