Water Shortages and Collapsed Drains Plague Hermosillo Neighborhoods

Residents of the Coloso Alto and San Ángel colonies in Hermosillo report intermittent water pressure and frequent service cuts, especially during the summer heat. "Sometimes there is no pressure, they cut the water," said José Hernández of Coloso Alto.

In San Ángel, households have been confronting continuous black‑water runoff and foul odours for months, creating health concerns. "We are elderly and have to fend for ourselves with a hose," complained Trinidad Hurtado. The problem is compounded by a drainage leak near the University Hospital, where strong odors indicate deteriorating sanitary infrastructure.

Local authorities have been urged to address both the unreliable water supply and the failing drainage system to prevent further health risks for the community.
