Water supply cutoffs hit several Romanian towns in mid‑June 2026

On 17 June 2026, the Aquabis water utility announced temporary interruptions of drinking water in multiple locations in Romania, including Chiuza, Piatra, Șintereag, Șieu Sfântu, Viile Cristurului and the city of Beclean. The outages were scheduled between 09:00 and up to 17:00, with crews working to repair a fault on the distribution network and to prevent further damage.

The following day, 18 June, the Apuseni branch of the Romanian water system suspended water service in the commune of Avram Iancu from 09:00 to 16:00 while installing two valves and a pressure reducer to improve sectorisation of the supply network.

Also on 17 June, the municipal water provider RAJA SA halted water delivery in Constanța’s Coiciu neighbourhood from 08:00 to 20:00 to carry out emergency rehabilitation of street‑level pipelines and technical chambers. Residents were urged to store a minimum water reserve and to allow the water to run for a few minutes before drinking, as turbidity may temporarily increase.
