Water supply interruptions reported in Rio de Janeiro and Itabira
Iguá Rio has completed scheduled interventions during the annual shutdown of the Guandu System. The concessionaire reported that the normalization of water supply in served areas may take up to 72 hours, depending on pipe pressurization and property location. The works, which included connections to a new large-scale pipeline in Outeiro, were finished ahead of schedule. Distribution will resume gradually once the Guandu System, managed by Cedae, reaches 100% capacity.
In Itabira, preventive maintenance by Vale at the Rio de Peixe System is expected to affect water supply in ten neighborhoods on Thursday. The intervention, scheduled from 7:00 to 21:00, will interrupt supply to the Rio de Peixe treatment plant. Affected areas include Abóboras, Bálsamos, Conceição, Fênix, Jardim Belvedere, Monsenhor José Lopes, Ribeira de Cima, Residencial Pedras do Valle, Santa Marta, and Santa Ruth. The local water and sewage service, SAAE, will perform operational maneuvers to mitigate impacts, with supply returning gradually after the service is completed.
