Water supply restored in Bulgarian villages following floods

Water supply has been restored to several villages in the Strumyani and Sandanski municipalities following heavy rainfall on August 24. The affected areas include Strumyani, Ilindentsi, Mikrevo, Drakata, and Ploski.

Despite the restoration of the network, the Regional Health Inspection (RHI) in Blagoevgrad has stated that the water in these five villages is not yet safe for drinking or food preparation. Residents must wait for two consecutive test results confirming the water meets quality standards before it can be used for consumption.

To support the population, authorities have provided bottled water and water tankers. In Strumyani, health inspectors have also overseen the disinfection of affected streets and homes, as well as larvicidal treatments to prevent mosquito outbreaks. Currently, there are no reports of increased infectious diseases or intestinal infections in the region.
