Water supply stability reported in Schlammersdorf and Vorbach amid heat
Despite ongoing heatwaves and low precipitation in Germany, the water supply for Schlammersdorf and Vorbach remains stable. The Vorbacher Group water association reported that groundwater levels in their two deep wells are robust, following a successful general renovation of the deep well system. Mayor Alexander Gollerin noted the sustainability of the pumping capabilities, which can reach up to twelve liters per second, ensuring supply security despite the summer heat.
In the Merzig-Wadern district of Saarland, extreme temperatures have led to a significant increase in heat days and desert days compared to previous years. To assist with hydration, public drinking water facilities are available in specific locations. In the city of Merzig, two water dispensers are operated by the Merzig municipal utilities, located on Poststraße and at the Bürgerhaus in Besseringen. The municipality of Losheim am See also provides two public drinking water installations.
