Water treatment infrastructure upgrades reported in Colombia and Argentina

In Jesús María, Santander, a new potable water plant has been inaugurated, quadrupling the region's treatment capacity. The project, managed by the Empresa de Servicios Públicos de Santander (Esant), involved an investment exceeding 7.1 billion pesos. The new facility can treat 12.4 liters of water per second, a significant increase from the previous system's 3.16 liters per second. This upgrade replaces a 30-year-old system and is expected to benefit 2,446 people across the municipal seat and the rural areas of Bravo Páez, Arciniegas, and Angosturas.

In Santa Fe, Argentina, Aguas Santafesinas (ASSA) is undergoing a modernization process of its water treatment plant with a provincial investment exceeding 1.2 billion pesos. The works include upgrading critical sectors and replacing equipment that has been in continuous operation for over three decades. Improvements to the plant's filters have already resulted in savings of more than 270 million liters of water per month. Additionally, technical teams are monitoring water intake points at the Colastiné and Santa Fe rivers to ensure infrastructure stability against potential climate contingencies related to El Niño.
