Water turbidity affects supply in Esquel, Argentina
The Cooperativa 16 de Octubre has reported significant water turbidity affecting the supply in Esquel, Argentina. The issue stems from intense rainfall and accelerated snowmelt, which caused a substantial increase in the flow of the Los Bandidos and Calera streams.
To protect filtration systems and maintain supply quality, authorities have implemented a preventive restriction on raw water intake at the water treatment plant. Engineer Mauricio Mateos noted that the current turbidity levels exceed the plant's capacity for decantation and slow filtration. While residents may experience low pressure and cloudy water, the water remains chlorinated, and there is no reported biological risk.
