Water utilities in Dubrovnik and Danilovgrad implement service and pricing changes
Water utility providers in Dubrovnik and Danilovgrad are implementing changes to service infrastructure and pricing structures.
In Dubrovnik, Vodovod Dubrovnik has installed 12,765 remote-reading water meters, representing approximately 45 percent of all measurement points in its operating areas. The company is gradually introducing this system, prioritizing residential buildings. While the system aims for efficiency, some residents in areas like Ploče have reported irregular readings, leading to sudden spikes in bills. In certain cases, billing is calculated based on a three-month average when readings cannot be completed. Additionally, some consumers in Dubrovnik still pay for water based on household membership rather than actual consumption.
In Danilovgrad, the local parliament is set to decide on the 2027 water pricing proposal. The plan includes a total increase of 19 cents for sewage services, consisting of an 11-cent increase in the fixed fee and an 8-cent increase in the variable fee per cubic meter. Conversely, the price of water is expected to remain stable or decrease slightly, with the fixed fee per user dropping from 1.23 to 1.21 euros.
