Water utilities in Tamaulipas perform maintenance and leak repairs
Water utility organizations in Tamaulipas, Mexico, are conducting extensive maintenance and repair operations to address aging infrastructure.
In Altamira, COMAPA Altamira performed corrective and preventive maintenance at the DUPORT water treatment plant, which supplies water to 70 percent of the local population. Technical teams serviced flocculation and sedimentation modules, cleaned hydraulic structures, and repaired pumping manifold components to ensure water quality and operational efficiency.
Meanwhile, COMAPA Sur reported addressing more than 43,000 water and drainage leaks in Tampico and Ciudad Madero between 2023 and August 2026. The organization averages approximately 40 repairs per day. Officials attributed the high volume of incidents to the deterioration and age of the hydraulic and sanitary networks, which have faced years of neglect and require gradual modernization.
