Water utility issues reported in Montenegro and Bosnia

In Montenegro, Vodovod Nikšić has confirmed that partially treated wastewater is flowing into the Zeta River due to technical failures at a wastewater treatment plant. The company stated that the first pre-treatment line, which removes mechanical impurities, is undergoing repairs that have stalled because of a lack of financial resources. The issue has persisted for over a year, exacerbated by the fact that the original construction company has ceased operations, making it difficult to secure continuous professional maintenance and support.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, KJKP Vodovod i kanalizacija Sarajevo informed citizens that temporary yellow or brown discoloration in tap water may occur following water supply interruptions. The utility explained that this is a technical occurrence caused by water from stagnant sections of the piping system reaching taps during normalization. The company assured residents that the water remains safe for consumption after flushing the taps for several minutes and noted that their laboratory conducts daily physical-chemical and microbiological analyses to ensure compliance with health standards.
