Waterford arson attack: Two charged after four family members killed
Two individuals have been charged following a suspected arson attack in the Birchwood estate of Waterford, Ireland, which resulted in the deaths of four members of the English family. The victims have been identified as Philip and Kim English, and their sons, Callum, 12, and Jayden, 9.
Cian Stacey, 21, and Jessica Dalton, 31, appeared at Clonmel District Court facing charges including criminal damage and assault causing serious harm. They have been remanded in custody. Investigators believe the suspects may have connections to organized crime groups in the area, with allegations suggesting the attack was carried out as part of drug-related intimidation.
Two other children, aged six and 14, remain in critical condition in the hospital following the fire. Garda Commissioner Justin Kelly stated that the investigation is intensifying and that resources are being fully deployed, with more arrests expected. During the investigation, police seized several vehicles and electronic devices.
The community in Waterford is in mourning as the family prepares for funerals at Sacred Heart Church. Local football clubs and parishioners have provided tributes and a guard of honour for the deceased.
