Waterford FC and Dundalk FC play to a 1-1 draw
Waterford FC and Dundalk FC played to a 1-1 draw in an SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division match at the RSC. Despite creating numerous scoring opportunities, Waterford was unable to secure a victory due to a lack of composure in front of goal and an inspired performance by Dundalk goalkeeper Enda Minogue.
Dundalk took the lead in the 21st minute when a clearance by Benny Couto fell to John Ross Wilson, whose cross was inadvertently turned into the net by Waterford defender John Mahon. Waterford responded with several close chances, including efforts by Jorgen Voilas and Padraig Amond, but Minogue made several critical saves to maintain the scoreline.
The result follows a period of contrasting form for both clubs; Waterford recently secured a place in the FAI Cup semi-finals, while Dundalk's cup run ended with a defeat to Derry City.
