The Waterloo Region District School Board has scheduled professional development (PD) days for elementary and secondary school staff on Wednesday, September 2, and Thursday, September 3, 2026.

During these two days, students will not attend school in person or virtually. Additionally, all board-operated Extended Day and Youth Development programs will be closed.

The training for elementary staff focuses on mandatory health, safety, and awareness modules, including topics such as anti-human trafficking, anaphylaxis, concussion awareness, cyber security, and workplace violence prevention. Staff will also engage in professional learning regarding curriculum, assessment, Individual Education Plans (IEPs), and the use of artificial intelligence to support student achievement and inclusion.
